Type IV Secretion Systems

Abstract

The recent advancement in the study of type IV secretion systems has provided us with a better understanding of horizontal gene transfer, a major contributing factor to antibiotic resistance and genome plasticity. Type IV secretion systems are not the only special secretion system used by microorganisms but it is one of the most versatile in the effectors it is capable of transporting and is seen in many bacteria and even a few Achaea.
