CRISP, A high school chapter
Abstract
CRISPR is a significant finding that works aid the bacteria in inactivating foreign viral nucleic acid. Cas, a protein that is found universally among CRISPR systems, bacteria are able to protect itself from foreign viruses, bacteriophages. Bacteria have been around for billions of years, and viruses are assumed to have preluded them. Over time, there was a parasitic relationship where viruses would infect bacterial cells with their RNA for viral protein translation.
There are a variety of defense mechanisms for predation as well are invasion within the bacterial genome. The CRISPR system is the bacterial immune defense system against viral invasion.
