Persister Cells

Jonathan Liles

Abstract

Persister cells are cells that go into hibernation in response to environmental stressors.  This allows the cell to survive the stressor and return to normal cellular function after the danger has passed.  These cells add complications to antibiotic usage because the cells can survive antibiotics and then reproduce after they are gone.
