How Bacteria Handles a Bad Day

Abstract


Bacteria have powerful responses to an assortment of stresses.  Bacterial cells have developed their own stress responses to survive sudden, and extreme changes in conditions.  In this micro-review, the model Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis’ response to stress was studied in the environment of human spaceflight.
