Abstract

In high school students are taught mainly about the animal kingdom. However, the planet is made up of more than solely animals. Plants, to some the topic is a bore. To others, plants are the most interesting creatures that inhabit this planet. Plants make this planet able to source the life each human and animal have. Plants are able to create oxygen for all to take in and they take in carbon dioxide to keep the atmosphere clean. From a small town; Grove, Oklahoma, the topic of plants was rarely brought up in the classroom setting. Teachers only taught the necessary vocabulary then went onto the next topic. Students were never able to go into depth on a specific topic. Going into college and not having any knowledge on plant life is not something a biology major should have to go through. Walking into botany on the first day was like learning to walk all over again.
