Abstract

We are researching the affects that added lemon juice will have on the pH of water and algae growth. This research will help scientists better understand what affects algae growth and how this can influence biofuel production. We added different amounts of lemon juice to find which would be the most affective while keeping a control group to have something to compare. In the bottles with the added lemon juice, we found increased algae growth due to the lower pH levels. This supports the idea that algae will grow more efficiently in water with lower pH levels and helps further research about production of biofuels derived from algae.
