The Effect of Yeast in Different Amounts of Pollution in Lake Water

Paige Malone, Jordan Allgood, Chathurika Henpita

Abstract

In certain ecosystems, water pollution is becoming a large issue. The pollution can be related back to agricultural wastes that result in large populations of algal blooms. This affects the life of animals and humans by damaging the water sources, making it unusable. An experiment was conducted using different levels of pollution in a water source, all containing levels of the decomposer, yeast. By introducing the amounts of yeast to the water and the levels of pollution in them, this reflected the amount of dissolved oxygen in each water sample.
