Does Size Really Matter? Comparing Chlorophyll Content in Three Different Sized Water Sources

Abstract


Chlorophyll is a green pigment that absorbs light energy from the sun. Chlorophyll A is the primary molecule responsible for photosynthesis and is found in algae, plants, and phytoplankton. We measured chlorophyll content as a proxy for amount of photosynthetic algae. Both water sources showed higher chlorophyll b content.
