Abstract

We are aware that varying temperatures effect endothermic and ectothermic metabolic rates. We wanted to measure the effects of humidity on Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches to determine if it effected them in a similar way to temperature. During the trials we observed that humidity positively affected the cockroaches. We interpret this to be because Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches naturally occur in a humid environment, therefore making it easier for them to breathe. We subjected the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches to trials of hot, neutral, and cold temperatures in both normal and increased humidity.
