Abstract

The topic of this paper examines how temperature influences metabolic rate. The key question under examination is why do animals eat differently under different environmental temperature conditions? Researches in the past have approached this question from a perspective that investigates metabolic rate in endotherms and ectotherms. In this study, we approach how temperature and weight of an organism influences metabolic rate as well as why metabolic weight is significant to that organism’s survival. These questions were addressed and studied through a series of experiments on several organisms. The results summarize how an organism uses thermoregulation to increase chances of survival as well as why eating different amounts assist them in this endeavor.
