Abstract

Body heat regulation varies between endotherms and ectotherms. In order to regulate body heat, ectotherms are more affected by body temperature based off of surface area to volume ratio. In Investigating Biology by Donald P. French (2015) it states that “ectotherms such as insects depend primarily on behavioral mechanisms to maintain body temperatures to observe their metabolic rate.” The smaller the surface area the too volume ratio in ectotherms, the greater he metabolic rate. Our hypothesis was proven incorrect, and there are variables that we could have changed. There are also experiments dine by others that showed correlation with our experiment and some that contradicted our results.
