Detergent’s effect on dissolved Oxygen level in water

Abstract


Pollutants can have a crucial effect on aquatic life. It has been proven that the lower the amount of dissolved O2 in the water, the less chance organisms such as fish can live. In this experiment, we are testing the effect detergent has on the dissolved oxygen level in different types of water. We predicted pollutants like detergent would cause dissolved oxygen levels in water to decrease because the detergent increases the rate of eutrophication in the water. From this investigation, we wanted to discover how much pollutants are really effecting the lives of fish and other aquatic animals. However, the results we acquired did not give us a clear answer.
