Metabolic Rates and Super worms: how higher temperatures effects metabolism rate

Georgia Blackwell, Jamie Baham, Jordyn Alexander, Avery Melton

Abstract

In this study we observed the relationship between metabolic rate and increased temperature in super worms. In our study we introduced super worms to temperatures at room temperature, 3 degrees above room temperature, and six degrees above room temperature. We then measured their CO2 production in a small respiration chamber. Our results showed us that super worms’ metabolic rate is at its highest at 3 degrees above room temperature. We concluded that super worms’ metabolic rate is more closely related to medium temperatures instead of higher temperatures.
