Wicked Crickets
Abstract
We chose to examine if temperature has an effect on the metabolic rates of different species of crickets because we wanted to see the difference between domestic and wild crickets. We placed four domestic crickets in a biochamber and proceeded to collect their CO2 production using a CO2 probe in 22.5 degrees Celsius and 27.5 degrees Celsius. We did the same with the wild crickets and compared the data. We found that the wild crickets produced more CO2 than the domestic crickets. This concludes that the wild crickets have a higher metabolic rate.
