Cockroaches: When it’s Cold, They Slowly Squirm and Crawl, But Do They Breathe At All?

Abstract

The general purpose of this experiment is to examine the relationship between a decrease in temperature and the metabolic rate of ectotherms, specifically cockroaches. Guiding our research, we questioned whether the overall amount of carbon dioxide gas released by the cockroaches as they respired would decrease as temperatures were lowered.
