Water Kit War: How Commercially Available Water Quality Kits Stack Up

Abstract

Without safe water quality many diseases can occur. We took three relatively cheap water quality test kits to determine if they were accurate and precise enough to determine if the water is safe for drinking. We used hth, API, and Tetra water test kits. To test these kits, we used the manufactures suggested protocols testing the same water source over three weeks. We saw two kits give decent readings while one kit was very poor. This means that these two kits were good in their own fields and can be used with a sense of confidence to test water.
