The Conductivity of Water... it's Electrifying!

Abstract

In this lab we tested the electrical conductivity of various water samples around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State University, and Stillwater. It is important to test the conductivity of water because it is a good method that can be viable when trying to identify the potentially harmful minerals in water. We tested eight samples of water from the areas mentioned above. We came to find that water from around Stillwater has the highest conductivity. We also discovered that DI Water has an extremely low conductivity. The samples from similar areas had similar conductivities. Even a small amount of ions, minerals, or salt can affect the conductivity of water.
