Algae and the Rainbow: How light spectrum affects algae growth after an outside pollutant is introduced

Abstract

Through observations and research, it is known that light has a significant effect on how plants grow. Plants use light as an energy source to promote the process of photosynthesis. The question that we want to raise is whether or not the color of that light affects the rate at which those plants grow. Another aspect we wanted to look at was the affects that a pollutant, in this case fertilizer, had on the growth of the algae. Through our experiment we want to test this question of whether the color affects both plant growth and if that plant growth affects oxygen intake levels.
