The Effects of Temperature Manipulation on the Metabolic Rates of Superworms
Abstract
In order to test how the metabolism of Superworms is effected, we performed an experiment that manipulated the temperature of their overall environment. Calculating the amount of CO2 that was released during respiration by each organism led us to a concise conclusion. We found that an increased temperature directly correlates to an increased metabolic rate of the Superworms. This means that the Superworms are ectothermic organisms, and therefore, the environmental temperature effects their metabolic rate.
