Abstract

The acidity of water is measured by pH, which can determine whether water is acidic, neutral, or basic. Living organisms can only survive in a certain range of pH levels; anything outside that range can cause harm, and death, to the organisms. Our group gathered water from two different sources, a fish tank and Theta Pond, and measure the pH level. After the initial measurements, added fertilizer to each source and then tested the pH at two time periods after. In our study, we found that fertilizer will affect the pH of water. Initially, the pH levels decreased, then after each waiting period, the pH increased.
