Abstract

Male guppies are not as selective in the mates they choose to breed with. When given a choice males are known to gravitate towards brightly colored fish. Based on research we found, we chose to test a male guppy’s behavior towards a large yellow fish compared to a control fish. We are studying what traits cause male guppies to be attracted to certain females. By running five different trials we were able to document the variation of male preference based his side preference. Finding that the male guppy gravitates more towards the neutral zone rather than toward any certain fish.
