Effects of Thermoregulation on Metabolism of Mice at Varying Temperatures

Abstract

In this report we decided to record the oxygen rates and temperatures in a controlled environment of a mouse to determine the metabolic rate. We chose this hypothesis because of the background data in our lab manual over the changing metabolic rates of endotherms in varying temperatures. We tested these rates over two trials at four different temperatures. We recorded the data for five minutes at five second intervals. We came to the conclusion that our results supported our hypothesis as metabolic rates were lower at room temperature and higher at both higher and lower temperatures.
