Respiratory Rates Based on the effect of Music

Baylee Barsalou, Cameron Babb, Kayla Miller

Abstract

We decided to test the respiratory rates of three mice after listening to different genres of music because music affects us on a daily basis. We tested this by taking the difference of the oxygen consumption from the start and the end after a matter of 135 seconds. During this time they were listening to Rock and Rap music. Our results supported our hypothesis that mice consume more oxygen while listening to the rock music. To expand our study future experiments could use two different songs or try the same songs on different animals.
