Abstract

What effect does corn syrup have on ethanol production in yeast? In this experiment, we tested the ethanol production of yeast in solutions differing in their concentration of light corn syrup. We hypothesized that the yeast would produce the most ethanol in a solution containing 1.0 milliliters (mL) of corn syrup. Based on our results, our hypothesis was supported because the solution containing 1.0 mL of corn syrup produced the most ethanol.
