Abstract


Algae are plants that grow through photosynthesis in various aquatic environments. Algae grow in almost random patterns. In some environments, they abundance or may not grow at all, so being able to accurately determine the density of algal cells can help determine why this phenomenon takes place. There are a variety of methods to measure cell density, from microscopes to cell counting devices. In our experiment, we are searching to find the most effective and accurate technique to measuring cell density of algae by using standard glass slides, hemocytometer slides and an Orflo Moxi Z Mini Automated Cell device.
