Abstract

Abstract:  Many factors affect guppy mate selection. In in our experiment we tested the hypothesis that male guppies (Poecilia reticulata) would show greater sexual interest to brightly-colored, red models than to white, control models. A single male guppy was kept in a 36L tank, and exposed to the experimental models. It was found that male guppies typically preferred the red models to the white, control models; this supports our hypothesis.
