Abstract

While studying the effects of temperature on Acheta Domestica, we notice how there was no previous research comparing male and female cricket’s metabolic rates in differing temperatures. We decided to test this by examining the oxygen consumption of males and females in cold temperatures. We separated the crickets by the sexes and exposed them to temperatures between 22⁰C and 16⁰C. In our experiment, the results were too imprecise to determine whether or not our hypothesis can be confirmed. This research is important to determine how the crickets could survive climate change.
