Abstract

We investigated the effects of rising temperatures on metabolic rates of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, Gromphadorhina portentosa. We questioned if higher ambient temperatures increased the output of carbon dioxide. Our experimental group was tested between 28 and 29 degrees Celsius. We tested the carbon dioxide output which gave us an idea of how the metabolic rate was working. Our group found that higher temperatures led to decreased metabolic rates, which did not support our hypothesis.
