The Effect of Dextrose on Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Ethanol Output

Abstract

For our experiment we decided to test the affects that dextrose has on fermentation production.  In other experiments we found information that would support our experiment.  Ethanol is believed to be an important alternative to fossil fuels which is why the results of our experiment are important to ethanol research.  The production of ethanol was measured using an ethanol probe which was in a bio-chamber that contained deionized water, dextrose, sodium phosphate, and yeast.  We conducted two different trials which each contained four groups that were tested over the course of ten minutes.  Our hypothesis that the more dextrose added to yeast the more ethanol would be produced was supported by our experiments.
